Seafood Curry ~ Goan Macchli (Spice Blend Recipe)

“Goan Macchli” - Seafood Curry

A take on a Goan dish, cooked in tomatoes, tamarind and coconut milk. Delicately flavoured with mild spices and fresh coriander!

Serves 4

Method:

1) Heat some oil for shallow frying in a frying pan over a medium heat. Fry the uncooked fish for 2-3 minutes, or until lightly golden, turning once, taking care not to break the fish. Leave to drain on kitchen paper.

2) In a saucepan, heat the coconut oil/oil over a medium heat and add the onion, ginger, garlic. When soft and lightly brown, add the spice blend and 3-4 tablespoons of water. Cook for 1 minute.

3) Add the tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture reduces to a thick pulp. Add the coconut milk, salt, and freshly ground pepper. Simmer for 5-6 minutes.

4) Gently slide in the fish and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add water to keep the sauce from becoming too thick.

5) Finish with a squeeze of lime juice and freshly chopped coriander. Add 1 green chilli to serve (optional).
